Planning a wedding is tough work. Planning a wedding during Covid? Yeesh. Not for the faint of heart. However, with Megan and Colleen’s positivity, drive, and––I’ll say it––love, they made the damn thing happen with the help of their absolutely incredible planner (seriously, a special shout-out to Wendy and her team at The Savvy Bride!) and a team of other amazing vendors. Through all of the hoops they had to jump through, last-minute changes, and concerns for the health and well-being of their family and friends, they succeeded in not only getting married but also having a safe and fun day that was a fabulous St. Louis street party wedding at Old Rock House!
Both Megan and Colleen opted for low-key mornings, quietly relaxing in their hotel rooms with siblings before getting dressed and preparing for the day. They exchanged letters, and the excitement for the day built until they both eventually made their way outside the hotel for their first look. Across from the St. Louis Wheel where we shot their engagement photos, Megan and Colleen finally saw each other for the first time on their wedding day with their families looking on with smiles.
Despite off-and-on sprinkles of rain all day, we were able to venture to Lafayette Park and stay dry for photos with their wedding party and of the couple! While most of the park was still green in early October, there were plenty of autumnal flowers in bloom for a gorgeous backdrop for photos. After some fun with the wedding party, Megan and Colleen got some time to cuddle up together for photos of just the two of them, then everybody hopped on the bus for a quick beer and photo stop outside at the Urban Chestnut Brewing Biergarten in Midtown! Once the brews were gone and plenty of photos taken, it was time to head to the venue to get these two gals married!
We got lucky. The rain completely stopped once we arrived at Old Rock House, just in time for family photos, drying off seats, and sending these two happy brides down the aisle! Megan and Colleen’s ceremony for their Old Rock House wedding was sweet, entertaining, and perfectly them!
After their first kiss and strutting back down the aisle as wife and wife, Megan and Colleen were able to actually enjoy their cocktail with their guests! (Seriously, if you actually want to attend your cocktail hour, plan a first look and get most of your photos done before the ceremony…you can thank me later.)
With the main goal for the day achieved (get married), it was time to tackle the second goal (party)! With the reception moved from indoors to the patio and heated tents in the parking lot, everyone had more room to safely eat, mingle, and dance the night away! The newlyweds had their own sweetheart table on the patio to enjoy the crisp fall weather and some delicious cake. Once dinner and cake were served and toasts given, Megan and some of her music sorority friends joined together to serenade her new wife in a surprise performance! After that, it was time to mask up and party down to finish out the evening celebrating this amazing couple!
